Businesses are fed up with paying high billable hours and lawyers are bored of working crazy hours. A recent survey at General Counsel 2015, by The Economist and sponsored by LexisNexis (of course) found some interesting things in relation to LawTech opportunities. You can see all the stats in their trendy infographic (below).<\/p>\n<h3>We love\u00a0stats, but we summarised relevant ones;<\/h3>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-17352 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.legalgeek.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/We-love-stats.gif\" alt=\"We love law stats\" width=\"370\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>How prepared for a data breach?<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211; 48% fairly unprepared or very unprepared<\/li>\n<li><strong>Which tech trend is biggest opportunity?<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211; 31% smart contracts<br \/>\n&#8211; 55% AI &amp; Machine Learning<br \/>\n&#8211; 10% on-demand \/ outsourcing<\/li>\n<li><strong>Which tech trend is biggest risk?<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; 55% AI &amp; Machine Learning<br \/>\n&#8211; 13% on-demand \/ outsourcing<br \/>\n&#8211; 29% none if the above<\/li>\n<li><strong>How prepared is organisation for disruption in next 3-5 years?<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211; 14% we will be the disrupters<br \/>\n&#8211; 27% we are prepared for the disruption of our industry<br \/>\n&#8211; 59% poorly or not prepared for the disruption<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What we think;<\/h3>\n<p>We would love to hear more from the 5% who voted that AI is the biggest threat <strong>AND<\/strong> opportunity for General Counsel. AI is a buzz word right now in London LawTech and our next event on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legalgeek.co\/events\/london-legal-tech-events\/lawyers-and-robots\/\">AI in law<\/a><\/strong> is a sell out.<\/p>\n<p>Data security is a big threat to law firms and general counsel&#8217;s. It is not if there will be a breach, it is when.
